An exciting part time opportunity has arisen to join the team at Marketing Sheffield and play a key role in growing the city’s thriving business tourism sector while strengthening the reputation of Sheffield as a leading destination for conferences and events.

As a valued member of the team, you will help position Sheffield as a host city of choice for national and international conferences and events. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting our successful Conference Ambassador Programme to attract and secure association conferences.
  • Building strong relationships with venues and hotels across the city.
  • Assisting with accommodation bookings for conferences and major events.
  • Identifying, bidding for, and securing conferences that generate venue commission for the team.
  • Researching high-value conference opportunities with strong potential to deliver economic impact.
  • Representing the team at industry exhibitions and trade events.
  • Hosting city tours and show-rounds for event planners and key decision-makers, showcasing the best that Sheffield has to offer.

We are looking for a proactive self-starter who also thrives as part of a collaborative team. You will bring knowledge of the events industry, or strong transferable skills from a relevant professional background.

As a confident and enthusiastic sales professional, you will feel equally comfortable promoting the city on an exhibition stand as you will guiding event organisers through Sheffield’s outstanding venues and experiences. You will also excel at building strong relationships with clients, ambassadors, and key city stakeholders.

This post is for 18.5 hours. There is flexibility over how many days the postholder works as long as key times are covered.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
