Group Leader - Malon Way

We are looking to recruit to a part time group leader post for Malon Way children’s home in Sheffield. You will support the management of the day-to-day operation of the home and ensure that the home meets the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality standards.

You must hold a level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or have relevant experience and have a minimum of two years’ work experience in a position relevant to the direct care of children and young people.  You must be able to lead and make decisions, supporting the Homes’ manager and your team members.

You will supervise assistant residential and residential child-care practitioners and ancillary workers and have knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting children and young people in care.

Flexible working including working evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota is a requirement with any out of hours work attracting pay enhancements and sleep ins at the national agreed rate.  The working pattern for this role will be  2 shifts a week either 1pm-10pm or 7am-4pm on a rota basis.

We offer an excellent career pathway with training opportunities both in house and through our local universities. We aim to provide a discriminate free, safe environment for young people to thrive and reach their individual potential in all aspects of life. All staff are qualified to look after young people through recognised NVQ, QCF and Diploma qualifications.

Our homes are frequently inspected in relation to national minimum standards by Ofsted and therefore experience of inspections would be an advantage. The environment can be challenging at times - so a positive attitude, compassion, commitment and resilience are essential. You’ll use the training and support provided as well as your knowledge and experience to provide genuine care, emotional first aid and a warm, homely and therapeutic environment to the young people living with us – helping them to build resilience and achieve their full potential.
