Assistant Manager - Aldine House Secure Centre
We are recruiting to a permanent 30 hour post and are looking for a compassionate, skilled professional to support the leadership and day‑to‑day running of our secure children’s home, helping to create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where children and young people can feel understood, supported and valued. Working in close partnership with the Service Manager and wider leadership team, Including Education and Health , you will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, child‑centred and trauma‑informed care that prioritises wellbeing, emotional safety and positive development.
Located in the South West of Sheffield, Aldine House is a Secure Children's Home licensed to provide care and education to twelve young people (mixed gender, aged 10-17 years) who display significant emotional and behavioural problems, or are awaiting trial or are sentenced by the courts for criminal offences.
This role involves supporting and developing staff to respond sensitively and consistently to young people’s needs, maintaining meaningful relationships with families and external professionals, and promoting reflective practice and continuous improvement.
You will help ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, while fostering a culture of care, accountability and learning. The successful candidate will be a confident and emotionally attuned leader, with a strong understanding of safeguarding, residential childcare practice and relevant legislation, and a clear commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.
With previous experience within the youth justice arena and residential childcare you will be responsible for the management of day to day operational activity within the home and to ensure that a high standard of care, control, support and security is delivered to all staff and young people within the home. You will have experience of staff deployment and rota management. You will be experienced in working in a multi-agency setting, chairing both internal and multi-agency meetings, driving up performance outcomes and delivering on set objectives.
Minimum qualification is Level 3 NVQ (Caring for Children and Young People) and ideally you will also have a management qualification. Our staff are offered regular support, supervision and performance management and we have a proven track record in staff training and development

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
