Strategic Support Coordinator – Opportunity Sheffield 

Opportunity Sheffield, the employment and skills service within Sheffield City Council (SCC), commissions, delivers and oversees activities that support people into jobs, training and career development. We work to strengthen the local economy by helping employers attract, nurture and retain talent. 

Our programmes focus on breaking down barriers to employment for those furthest from the labour market, helping alleviate poverty and boosting economic growth through skills enhancement. 

Following the award of Economic Inactivity Trailblazer and Local Growth Fund (LGF) funding, Opportunity Sheffield is expanding and seeking to recruit a Strategic Support Coordinator to join our team. 

About the Role 

The Strategic Support Coordinator will play a key role within Opportunity Sheffield, supporting and managing a team of Employment Support Workers delivering targeted employment support programmes as part of regional projects in partnership with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and forward‑thinking individual with strong organisational and people‑management skills. Experience and understanding of externally funded programmes, the employment support sector, and the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) is essential. 

Key Responsibilities 

Conduct monthly staff 1‑2‑1s and annual Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) 
Lead on caseload reviews to ensure quality and consistency of support 
Maintain the highest standards of contractual compliance 
Build and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
Use the Enspirio information management system effectively in line with programme requirements 
Assist in preparing and producing performance‑related management information 
Oversee the planning and coordination of internal course sign‑ups, ensuring smooth administration and effective delivery of all training activities. 
Undertake additional duties as agreed with your line manager

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
