HR Administrator

As a Council we have bold ambitions for our city and our people are key to delivering excellent services. We are looking for a customer-focused individuals to join our People Team, with the following roles available:
- 3 full-time (37 hours per week) HR Administrator roles in HR Consultancy and Advice on 12-month fixed term contracts.
- 1 full-time (37 hours per week) HR Administrator role in HR Corporate Support on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2028.
- 1 part-time (21 hours per week) HR Administrator role in HR Corporate Support on a permanent.
The HR Consultancy and Advice roles will require you to:
- Deliver a high-quality first-line HR advisory service, responding to enquiries via telephone and shared mailboxes. Take a customer-focused approach to provide clear, accurate and easily understood responses, applying HR policies and guidance to deliver professional advice tailored to individual circumstances.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of enquiries, advice requests and case activity, utilising case management and telephony systems to support an efficient HR service.
- Track the progress of escalated queries and advisory requests, liaising with colleagues and stakeholders where required to ensure prompt resolution and compliance with service standards.
- Take ownership of your workload, prioritising competing demands and ensuring all enquiries are handled, progressed or escalated within agreed timescales.
- Provide high-quality administrative support to the team, ensuring accurate data recording and record management, producing and maintaining service information, and proactively identifying and recommending service improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
- Have a genuine desire to learn and develop, with the curiosity and motivation to build your expertise and make a meaningful impact in the role.
The HR Corporate Support roles will require you:
- To maintain the establishment structure by processing changes as instructed by managers and production of management information.
- To deal with HR-related queries and request for advice. This will involve mailbox administration.
- To maintain employee and HR records in line with Council policy and statutory requirements, e.g. file requests and cleansing, employee queries.
- To undertake employee checks in line with policy and statutory requirements e.g. Disclosure and Barring, Right to work, professional registration, etc.
- To support management change processes including the collation and co-ordination of information to support management decision making e.g. Chief Officer Panel and applications for early release of pension benefits.
The People Team handles a high volume of tasks and customer enquiries from employees and managers; you will therefore need to have:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Be highly organised, and confident in undertaking transactional processes
- Able to work at pace and with accuracy.
- A good level of Microsoft Office skills, including but not limited to: Outlook, Excel, and Copilot.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
