People Technology & Information Coordinator
Salford City Council
Help shape the future of People Technology and workforce information
Do you enjoy developing people systems, working with large datasets and turning information into meaningful insights?
We’re looking for a People Technology and Information Coordinator to join our team and play a key part in shaping how we use technology, data and insight to deliver better people services.
This is a varied role where you’ll help develop and improve our people systems, explore new ways of working and turn workforce data into meaningful insight. From developing iTrent and testing new functionality to automating processes and exploring workforce trends, you’ll help make our HR services simpler, smarter and more effective.
You’ll work with colleagues across HR and OD, Payroll, Digital, Data and Technology and the wider organisation, giving you the opportunity to build relationships, solve real problems and see the impact of your work across the Council.
What you’ll get involved in
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Shape and improve our HR technology, supporting the administration, configuration and ongoing development of iTrent and other HR systems.
- Turn ideas into improvements, helping take system changes from testing through to implementation and change control.
- Make processes simpler, identifying opportunities for automation, self-service and better ways of working.
- Bring workforce data to life, producing reports and helping identify trends, patterns and insights that support better decisions.
- Be a problem solver, investigating system and data issues and working with colleagues, suppliers and partners to find practical solutions.
- Champion good-quality information, supporting data-quality checks, reconciliations, statutory reporting, audit requirements and information security.
- Help people get the best from our systems, providing clear, practical guidance to colleagues and managers.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical and enthusiastic about using technology and data to make a difference. You’ll be comfortable working with both systems and information, with a practical understanding of how good technology and reliable workforce data can support effective HR services.
You’ll ideally bring experience of:
- Supporting, administering or developing an HR, payroll or similar business system;
- Working with data, reporting or management information;
- Using Microsoft Excel confidently and accurately;
- Testing system changes, reviewing processes or supporting improvements;
- Investigating problems and finding practical solutions;
- Understanding the importance of data quality, information security and UK GDPR; and
- Explaining systems or information clearly to people with different levels of technical knowledge.
You’ll also be organised, collaborative and comfortable balancing different priorities.
Experience of iTrent or another HR information system, alongside reporting or data visualisation tools such as BusinessObjects, Power BI or Tableau, would be helpful.
Why join us?
This is an exciting time to join the People Technology and Information team here at Salford City Council.
The Council is implementing iTrent as its strategic HR and payroll system while strengthening its workforce reporting and analytics capability. That means you’ll be joining at a point where there is genuine opportunity to contribute to how our technology, processes and information develop.
You’ll have the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience across HR technology, system development, testing, automation, process improvement, people analytics, data quality and governance, giving you exposure to a wide range of People Technology and Information activity.
Most importantly, you’ll be able to see the impact of your work: making systems easier for colleagues and managers to use, improving the quality of our workforce information and helping decision-makers access the insight they need to make informed decisions.
