About the role

We are looking for a confident, values-led and experienced Best Start Inclusion Coordinator to provide operational leadership for Salford’s Early Years inclusion and SEND offer within the Best Start and Family Hubs framework. This is an important leadership role, focused on ensuring children with SEND and additional needs, and their families, can access timely, coordinated and inclusive support across universal, targeted and specialist services.

The postholder will lead and support a specialist inclusion workforce, including Portage Practitioners, Early Support Key Workers, Best Start Inclusion Practitioners and Early Years Inclusion Advisers. Working alongside Colleagues in Starting Life Well, Family Hubs, locality and wider partners, the role will strengthen inclusive practice, improve pathway coordination and support better outcomes for children and families across Salford.

About you

You will be an inclusive and compassionate leader with strong experience of managing, supervising and developing staff. You will be confident in providing clear operational direction while supporting high-quality, strengths-based practice. You will understand the importance of early identification, graduated approach and joined up working across education, health, early help, social care and the voluntary sector.

You will bring a strong working knowledge of Early Years SEND and inclusion systems, including the SEND Code of Practice, Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision and pathways that support children and families to access the right help at the right time. You will also be able to use data, feedback and professional insight to improve practice, monitor delivery and contribute to continuous service development.
