Salford City Council is seeking an exceptional Service Manager to help lead its dynamic Regulatory Services function. Reporting to the Head of Service, you will play a central role in shaping the strategic and policy direction of Regulatory Services, aligning delivery with Directorate priorities and the wider Corporate Plan. Working with the management team and officers, you will lead the development of intelligence-led responses to emerging challenges, influence service design and delivery, and drive innovation across multiple service areas. This is a role defined by its breadth and pace, requiring the ability to manage complex work programmes, identify emerging trends, and implement robust, proportionate regulatory responses that support both communities and businesses.

Salford Regulatory Services currently comprises approximately 100 staff across the following functions:

Landlord Licensing & Housing Standards
Housing Compliance & Enforcement
Environmental Protection
Environmental Health, Pest & Dog Control
Trading Standards, Licensing & Financial Investigation
Administration Support

The personal statement should clearly evidence how you fulfil the requirements of the person specification and explain what you would bring to this challenging and rewarding role.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £21.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £5.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £21.50.
