We are a 24 bed Secure Care Centre which is made up of 4 residential homes, We care for sentenced and remanded children (Boys) under the age of 18 years and are part of the national Secure Accommodation Network
The centre has a proven track record of offering a very high standard of Trauma Informed Care to our children. This supports Children to succeed in their personal and academic development and resettlement back into the community.
Who we are seeking
A dynamic Training Officer who is able to shape and develop our workforce to contribute to improved outcomes for the children we care for.
Do you have:
- A qualification and/or experience relevant to the role.
- Experience of developing and delivering training programmes.
- Knowledge of National Policy and evidence-base relevant to the care of the children.
- An ability to monitor and respond to training compliance.
- To demonstrate Salford City Councils Values and the service specific values.
- Good organisational skills and experience of accurate record keeping.
- The determination to be reliable, take personal responsibility and be accountable for your role and responsibilities.
- An ability to work in collaboration and to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Strong IT skills to promote the design and delivery of training packages.
- Excellent communication across all levels.

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated professional to ensure the service remains fully compliant with statutory guidance, quality standards, and Care Regulations, while leading the development and delivery of a comprehensive Workforce Development Strategy that promotes high practice standards. The role involves working collaboratively with children and staff to design and oversee an annual Training Plan, liaising with the Children’s Services Workforce Development Team to coordinate apprenticeship programmes and student placements, and managing both the induction and ongoing training of staff to support effective practice. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure training aligns with service needs and will confidently develop and deliver training to address identified gaps. A key aspect of the role is staying up to date with national guidance and evidence-based practice, ensuring this knowledge is effectively cascaded to the workforce, while supporting workforce development at both individual and service-wide levels. You will be responsible for recording, monitoring, and evaluating the impact of training, maintaining accountability for its implementation, and contributing actively to service-wide governance and oversight. Flexibility is essential, as you will also undertake additional duties in line with the needs of the service.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
