About us
The Data Analytics & Insight team is dedicated to transforming data into actionable insights that help the council to deliver public services to the people of Salford. The team is comprised of an data analytics function which produces strategic and operational insights, and a data engineering function which develops and maintains the data architecture that allows our analysts to provide the insights that the council needs. The team is part of the council’s innovative and multi-award winning Digital, Data and Technology service, known as DDaT, and has access to a wide range of tools, technologies and expertise that are at the forefront of digital service delivery.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Analyst to play a key role in providing data and insight support to our Adult Social Care and Health Partnerships Directorate. The directorate supports a wide range of services including social care, occupational therapy, community mental health, hospital discharge, reablement, carers, commissioning, safeguarding, provider services and Salford Assist. Knowledge of any of these service areas would be advantageous, but is not essential. You will also work with other council services when the need arises.
You will be responsible for mentoring and managing a small team of data analysts to provide research, analysis, forecasting, segmentation, dashboard development, performance indicators, and benchmarking. You will also help to implement the councils data strategy as well support with developing and managing the delivery of the Data and Insight teams business plan. You will also be responsible for seeking out opportunities for service improvement and promote the adoption of new approaches to data and insight.
Our Data Infrastructure
We have developed a unified data platform using Microsoft Fabric so that our key datasets are in a single environment making it quicker and easier to deliver the analytics and insights required.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Will take a lead in helping to shape and deliver data and insight services
- Interested in using data positively to help people and communities
- Able to plan and organise projects and workloads
- Can mentor, manage and develop data analysts
- Is curious and inquisitive about data
- Experience of using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Experience of using coding languages such as SQL or Python
- Able to collaborate with data specialists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data analysis.
- Can manage stakeholders effectively
- Can build and maintain strong working relationships with customers
