About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Runnymede Borough Council as we continue our positive work supporting residents to live independently and access essential services within their communities. As the Community Transport & Meals at Home Scheduler, working 20 hours a week with the below schedule:
 
Working pattern: Friday (12:00 - 17:00), Saturday (09:30 - 14:30), Sunday (09:30 - 14:30), Monday (12:00 - 17:00), Tuesday (12:00 - 17:00)

You will play a vital role in coordinating the delivery of our Community Transport and Meals at Home services, ensuring residents receive a safe, reliable and customer-focused service. The Community Transport & Meals at Home Scheduler will work closely with drivers, service users, carers and partner organisations to keep services running efficiently on a daily basis.

Day-to-day, the role will include:

  • Scheduling and coordinating community transport, processing bookings as well as meal delivery routes.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for service users, carers and partner agencies.
  • Allocating work to drivers and communicating route information effectively, responding to operational issues and service disruptions as they arise
  • Monitoring service performance and maintaining accurate operational records, ensuring customer information is handled securely and confidentially.
  • Providing driving cover when required to support service continuity.
  • Completing vehicle checks, recording mileage and reporting defects.
  • Supporting the Community Transport Supervisor with daily operational activities.
This is a varied role which combines customer service, scheduling and frontline operational support, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of older and vulnerable residents across Runnymede and Surrey Heath. The successful candidate will also play a key role in supporting the ongoing development and efficient delivery of these essential community services

Salary

Please note that Runnymede Borough Council is currently undertaking a pay and grading review, which is expected to be implemented during the summer. The successful applicant will be appointed under the Council’s current grading and salary structure and, following implementation of the new framework, will be assimilated into the revised pay structure in line with all existing employees.

This grading in the new pay structure for this role will be RBC3 £30,767 - £33,631.(actual salary £16,631 - £18,179) 

About You

We are looking for a highly organised and customer-focused individual to join our team who can provide efficient scheduling, coordination and operational support for our Community Transport and Meals at Home services.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with a range of skills including:

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy and changing environment, where priorities change frequently.
  • Experience of coordinating schedules, appointments, routes or service bookings in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience of handling telephone enquiries and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records using computer systems.
  • Ability to plan and organise work effectively whilst managing competing priorities.
  • Experience of working as part of a team including strong communication skills with customers, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Ability to make practical decisions and resolve operational issues effectively.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail when processing bookings and schedules.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding principles.
  • Full UK driving license including D1 entitlement.
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy as well as good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other IT systems.
  • An MiDAS qualification, or willingness to obtain, and First Aid qualification would be desirable.
