About The Role

This an exciting opportunity to join Runnymede Borough Council as we continue our positive work caring for vulnerable residents with the Community Transport & Meals at Home services. As the Community Transport & Meals at Home Manager, you will play a key role in leading and developing vital frontline services that support independence and wellbeing across our communities. The Community Transport & Meals at Home Manager will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operational delivery of Community Transport and Meals at Home services across two boroughs.
  • Manage and support a multi-site team, including drivers, schedulers and supervisor.
  • Oversee the efficient deployment of staff and a fleet of minibuses and meals at home vehicles.
  • Ensure high standards of health and safety, safeguarding and compliance across all service areas.
  • Monitor and manage service budgets, performance data and KPIs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors and partners.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to grow and improve the services, including new business initiatives
  • Oversee stock management and food safety compliance for the Meals at Home service.
  • Contribute to wider service development as part of the Community Services management team.

Salary

Please note that Runnymede Borough Council is currently undertaking a pay and grading review, which is expected to be implemented during the summer. The successful applicant will be appointed under the Council’s current grading and salary structure and, following implementation of the new framework, will be assimilated into the revised pay structure in line with all existing employees.
 
This grading in the new pay structure for this role will be RBC8 with a salary range of £53,662 - £60,301.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our team who can provide strong operational leadership and deliver high-quality, customer-focused services. We are looking for candidates with a range of skills including:

  • Experience managing operational, public-facing services and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and compliance.
  • Experience managing budgets and monitoring service performance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and scheduling or operational systems.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and solve problems effectively.
  • Understanding of transport, logistics or community-based services (desirable).
  • Knowledge of food safety standards or Meals at Home services (desirable).
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
