About The Role

This an exciting opportunity to join Runnymede Borough Council as we continue our positive work collecting waste from residents and businesses contributing to a clean borough. As the HGV Driver Waste Collection Operations, you will:

  • Part of the waste collection crew undertaking household domestic, recycling, food waste, chargeable garden waste and trade waste operations
  • Promote and publicise services including ensuring excellent customer care
  • To assist the loader(s) in washing the vehicle once per week as well clean the internal cab daily
  • To complete all paperwork and return to main waste operational office
  • To follow all round sheets/in cab data and ensure that all assisted collections are completed and return to their correct positions
  • Complete data for all collections not accessible and return within 24hours and all bin contaminated/not presented for collection
  • Return all bins/containers to point of collection making sure access is not blocked for residents/pedestrians
  • To assist in the operation of in cab route management software
  • To ensure all missed bins are collected within 24hrs and details provided to the duty supervisor/operations manager
  • To undertake bank holiday waste collection operations (or weekend collections over the Christmas period) – additional payment paid

Salary
 
Please note that Runnymede Borough Council is currently undertaking a pay and grading review, which is expected to be implemented during the summer. The successful applicant will be appointed under the Council’s current grading and salary structure and, following implementation of the new framework, will be assimilated into the revised pay structure in line with all existing employees.
 
This grading in the new pay structure for this role will be RBC4 £34,388 - £37,589.

About You

We are looking for an qualified and experienced HGV Waste Collections Operations Driver to join our team who can provide exceptional customer service and quality of service. We are looking for exceptional candidates with a range of skills including:

  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Working as part of a team
  • Take proactive attitude to work, demonstrating initiative and using good judgement
  • Take a customer service approach to service delivery
  • Experience of using in cab software route systems
