Registered Children’s Home Manager

Doors are opening in Rochdale. Come join us on our journey!!!

Do you have what it takes to become an exceptional leader and part of a Local Authority, wanting to make a real difference to the lives and outcomes of the children and young people that we care for?

We have an opening for a Registered Manager for one of our established homes for 5 children & young people aged from 8-17, with social and emotional needs and difficulties.

This a great opportunity for the successful person to develop, manage and support a dedicated and experienced team of workers leading on the care and support of the children and young people in the home. You will be supported by an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager.

The children and young people in our all our homes need care, love, nurture and support, to help them to work through the difficulties they may have experienced or are currently experiencing, and to help enhance their present and future lives.

The children and young people need a committed and dependable manager, who will go above and beyond, to make them feel safe and secure, and who will promote their emotional health and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who will be a positive and supportive role model for our children and young people and equally, the team of workers they will be responsible for. In support of your teams, you will lead on providing regular and effective supervision, including an annual ‘Delve’ Appraisal.

You will be part of a really encouraging and supportive management team, where there are real opportunities for your personal and professional development. Our training offer in Rochdale is second to none, including you completing the Therapeutic Parenting with PACE training programme, which is the foundation of our ‘Model of Care’ and practice across all our homes for both the care and support of the children and young people and the workers too. You will be part of an ‘on-call’ Management rota to support our homes outside of working hours. You will receive an additional payment for being ‘on-call’

You need to have a flexible approach to managing the home and this may include the need for you to ‘jump on’ shift to support your team, and there may be instances where you might have to help by covering and completing sleep in duties at very short notice.

In the role of the Registered Manager, you will lead on the monitoring and reviewing of the systems and processes in the home, to ensure compliance with Ofsted and to be confident that the home is operating within the framework of the Children Act, Working Together to Safeguard 2026 and the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015. We want our homes to be rated at least “Good”, with a real ambition for all our homes to be “Outstanding”

As the Registered Manager, you must be over 21 years of age, you will have integrity and be of good character, with the appropriate experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications to manage the home effectively.

You must within the last 5 years, have worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children and young people and for at least one year, worked in a role requiring the management and supervision of workers in a care role.

You must be qualified to NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Working with Children and Young People or equivalent and preferably, hold a Level 5 in Leadership & Management, but don’t worry if you don’t hold a Level 5, as we will support you to complete this as part of your professional development.

Part of the recruitment process will involve an Interview/Activity with Cared 4 children & young people.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.
