Electoral Services Manager

Job description

Permanent - Full time

Location: Lynton House


The London Borough of Redbridge is looking for an Electoral Services Manager to deliver a high quality, value for money, effective Electoral Service which complies with electoral regulations and meets the performance standards set by the Electoral Commission in relation to electoral registration and elections, utilizing best practice.

You will lead and manage the Electoral Services Team ensuring that there is effective organization of the annual canvass, production of the Register of Electors and planning and conduct of elections, by-elections and referenda.

Responsibilities:

  • To deliver a high quality, value for money, effective Electoral Service.
  • Lead and manage the Electoral Services Team.
  • Comply with electoral regulations
  • Undertake the management and running of any Elections to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Oversee the planning and running of the Annual Canvass
  • Maintain knowledge and implement changes to statutory and legislation affecting Electoral Services.
  • To encourage engagement in registrations and elections across the Borough.
  • To advise the Returning Officer on the processes and statutory procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Hold the AEA Certificate and be willing to work towards the AEA Diploma if required.
  • Have the ability to provide advice and interpret electoral legislation and regulations
  • Have experience and responsibility or organizing and administering statutory elections in the UK.
  • Have experience and responsibility of organizing and administering the annual canvass.
  • Experience of providing training for elections and registration administration.
