Job description

Fixed-term/Secondment – 12 months

Location: Redbridge Register Office, Town Hall, High Road, Ilford IG1 1DD

Redbridge Registration Services is looking for two customer-focused Business Support & Registration Officers to join our team. This is a front-facing, office-based role providing a professional first point of contact for registration enquiries, bookings and payments, as well as wider administration support for Registration & Celebratory Services.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Experience of working in a registration or front line service setting.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to deal with people in a range of circumstances, including those who may be bereaved or anxious.
  • Clear verbal communication skills and confidence handling one-to-one enquiries.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, building positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work accurately, follow statutory procedures and maintain confidentiality.
  • Neat and legible handwriting and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (or similar systems) and confidence using basic spreadsheets/records.
  • Adaptable and receptive to change, with a flexible approach to service delivery.

Desirable

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to adapt working hours to meet business needs (e.g., occasional evenings, wedding fairs, extended opening hours).
  • Willingness to work from any Council site/building, as required.

Additional information

This is an office-based role due to its customer-facing nature. Some weekend working is required.
