Business Support Officer - Waste

Contract: Temporary: 9-12 months (Secondment)

Salary: £25,989 per annum (Grade 2)

Hours: 36.66 per week over 5 days Monday to Friday

Based: Moorhey Street, Oldham, OL1 1JF

Role Overview:

To provide effective administrative support to the Waste Management service for household waste collections and business waste collections.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking administration duties associated with waste management including:
  • Processing service requests for household collections for example missed bins, assisted collections
  • Dealing with enquiries from trade customers over the phone, email and in person
  • Inbox management for waste and business waste
  • Dealing with trade waste payment enquiries from Credit Control
  • Processing new contracts, contract amendments and cancellations


Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Experience of using computer packages for word-processing, spreadsheets and databases, using the internet and sending/receiving e-mails
  • Organisational skills to complete tasks to deadlines, re-prioritising own work if necessary
  • Teamworking skills to work effectively with others to meet deadlines and complete work to the required standard
  • Customer Service skills and experience of working with financial systems
  • Previous experience within a similar role is desirable
