About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Building Services Officer to join our team at Family Hub @ Shipman. As a key member of the team, you will support the day-to-day management of the building, undertaking a wide range of responsibilities including building inspections, health and safety checks, minor maintenance, room set-up, fire safety compliance, porterage, and supporting emergency procedures.

This role requires a hands-on individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and can work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the building and maintaining site security.
  • Undertaking routine building inspections and reporting issues.
  • Carrying out weekly compliance checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting and water safety monitoring.
  • Supporting health and safety compliance through risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks and coordinating repairs.
  • Setting up and clearing rooms for meetings, events and service delivery.
  • Managing deliveries, storage and waste disposal.
  • Supporting planned and emergency evacuations as a Fire Warden.
  • Providing First Aid where required (training provided).
  • Maintaining external areas and ensuring the site remains safe, clean and welcoming.
  • Participating in an emergency call-out rota.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working within a building, facilities, caretaking or site management environment.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety and building compliance.
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Is confident using IT systems and mobile devices to record inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Can work independently, prioritise tasks and use initiative.
  • Demonstrates a flexible, solution-focused approach.
  • Is committed to providing excellent services to residents, visitors and colleagues.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing to service improvement.

Additional Information

  • This is not a hybrid role and requires attendance on site every day from 8.30am onwards to cover core Family Hub delivery.
  • Saturday working will be required.
  • Training will be provided for relevant responsibilities including First Aid, Fire Warden duties and compliance requirements where necessary.

How to Apply

If you are a motivated individual with a strong commitment to customer service, health and safety, and maintaining high-quality facilities, we would welcome your application.
