Deliver high-profile intelligence-led enforcement, business engagement, and nationally significant operations through strong collaborative and multi-agency partnership, including working with some of Europe’s largest gaming, entertainment, and pop culture exhibitions.


Lead and support complex work tackling illicit tobacco, illicit vapes, counterfeiting, underage sales, scams, and unfair trading practices, while contributing to wider public health outcomes through Newham’s HEART values and the 50 Steps to a Healthier Newham Strategy, Ageing Well priorities, and Healthy Schools Programme.


The successful applicants will be expected to provide professional expertise and play a pivotal role in driving compliance in these specialist areas.


We are looking to recruit 2 experienced Trading Standards Officers at the higher level with the below qualifications,  please ensure you read the attached job description to show how you meet the criteria for the role

PO4 (one post) DTS qualified or equivalent.

PO5 (one post) Chartered Trading Standards Practitioner qualified. Accredited Financial Investigator qualified (desirable). Management qualification or equivalent or relevant experience (desirable).

 You will be expected to undertake the full range of Trading Standards work and this would include:


•    To lead in specialist fields of work.
•    Undertaking a range of proactive Trading Standards criminal investigations and formal enforcement work including investigating complaints.
•    Advise businesses and community groups on the requirements of Trading Standards legislation.
•    Undertaking joint working with other internal services and external enforcement agencies.
•    Utilise a variety of I.T and software packages including IDB and UNIFORM.


You will be DTS/DCATS or equivalent qualified and will also have excellent verbal/ written communications skills and will be required to possess a full (manual) current driving license. 


The post holder will sometimes be required to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays to meet service requirements. They will also be expected to work remotely in the field or at any suitable office location.

The Job is located within the Trading Standards team at East Ham Town Hall
