Are you a dynamic, strategic leader ready to shape the future of education in one of London’s most ambitious and diverse boroughs? Do you have a passion for challenging inequality and ensuring all children achieve their potential?

The London Borough of Newham is driving forward an ambitious transformation agenda, with a clear focus on further raising standards and improving outcomes for all children and young people. We are seeking an exceptional senior leader to join us as Assistant Director of Education Improvement & Outcomes.

Reporting to the Director of Education and Inclusion, you will lead our approach to school effectiveness, performance and quality assurance across all phases. You will work in close partnership with headteachers, governing boards, trusts, school improvement advisors and regional partners to build a confident, equitable, self-improving system, underpinned by high expectations, collaboration and innovation.

You will establish robust frameworks for challenge and support, strengthen sector-led improvement capacity, and ensure resources are deployed strategically to maximise impact.  The role leads the development of the wider education system, ensuring strong progression pathways and sustained high standards.

We are looking for a credible and influential leader with a strong track record in education improvement, including supporting school leaders and governing boards to achieve financial sustainability. You will bring strategic clarity, political awareness and the ability to deliver at pace in a complex environment, alongside a clear commitment to securing excellent outcomes for all children and young people.
