St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School is seeking to appoint a highly organised, enthusiastic and proactive Design Technology Technician to support our thriving and increasingly popular Design Technology Department.

Design Technology is a highly valued subject within the school and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. The department plays a key role in fostering creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving, providing pupils with opportunities to design, create and manufacture high-quality outcomes. As the department continues to flourish, we are seeking a technician who will play a central role in supporting both staff and students.

Working closely with teaching colleagues, the successful candidate will prepare resources and materials, maintain equipment and workshop facilities, support the safe operation of the department and assist with practical activities. This is a varied and rewarding position at the heart of a busy and successful department.

We are looking for a practical, resourceful and solutions-focused individual who enjoys helping others and takes pride in making things work. Whilst technical expertise is important, we are equally interested in someone who is approachable, dependable and committed to supporting young people. The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils and staff alike, contributing to the supportive and collaborative culture that characterises the department.

As part of a 39-school Catholic Education Trust, colleagues benefit from excellent professional support, access to high-quality training and opportunities to collaborate with staff across a wider family of schools.
If you are someone who enjoys solving problems, values teamwork and would like to play an important role in a successful and growing department, we would be delighted to hear from you. Prospective applicants are warmly encouraged to visit the school and experience first-hand what makes St Cuthbert’s such a rewarding place to work.

Application forms and further information are available by following the link on our website for submission by 9:00am on Monday 2nd November 2026.

All applications should be made online via our online recruitment portal. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.

St Cuthbert’s is first and foremost a Catholic school. Applicants are not required to be practising Catholics but are expected to support and promote the school’s Catholic vision, mission, and values.

The Governors of St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School, the Trustees of the Bishop Bewick Trust and the Diocese are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, an online search will be completed for shortlisted candidates.
