Are you motivated, customer-focused and confident negotiating positive outcomes? We are looking for a proactive Debt Recovery Officer to help maximise the Council’s income by recovering sundry debt and Housing Benefit overpayments in line with legislation and council policy.

What you’ll be doing:
You will support the effective collection and recovery of income, work with customers to agree affordable arrangements, use a range of recovery methods, respond to enquiries, and contribute to continuous service improvement.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience in debt recovery, income collection, enforcement or similar customer-facing work.
Can negotiate constructively while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
Communicates clearly across phone, email and correspondence.
Works well with colleagues, external partners and customers.
Is confident using digital systems and committed to improvement.
