Due to the promotion of the previous postholder, the Governors of Archbishop Runcie Church of England VA First School wish to appoint a part time Breakfast Club and After School Club Leader to further extend our current wraparound offer.

We are a welcoming Church of England school with happy, well behaved and highly motivated children and a dynamic, passionate and hardworking staff team. We have high expectations of ourselves and the children. Parents are highly supportive of the school.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our expanding wraparound provision to further advance our school offer. The post will include supervising staff, serving children breakfast and/or snack and providing a range of activities that engage children during their time in the club. It will be an opportunity to play a full part in the continued development of our vision for all our children to become confident, secure, caring individuals who flourish in the love of God.

This post is suitable for an experienced childcare or supervisory assistant and/or someone with a good level of qualification.

What does it involve?

Contract 1 Term time (38 weeks)*: Breakfast Club runs from 7:45am-8:45am and After School Club runs from 3:15pm until 5:30pm. The post includes 15 minutes setting up / tidying up at the end of each session.

Contract 2 - School Holidays*: We are looking to extend our current offer and establish a holiday club that will run during school holidays. The vision is for this to run from 8:00am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday during the school holidays each year.

Additional hours: The postholder will be expected to be flexible and work additional (paid) hours, during term time, to meet the needs of the school if required.

*Please note, once the appointed person reaches their 5 year anniversary, their working weeks will reduce from 7.2 weeks to 6.4 weeks to compensate for the increase in annual leave. This will mean that if the successfully appointed candidate has less than 5 years service upon appointment they will be entitled to 7.2 weeks of annual leave and bank holidays. If they have more than 5 years service, they will be entitled to 6.4 weeks of annual leave and bank holidays. This brings the total weeks paid to 51.98 over the 2 contracts and either 45.4 weeks worked with less than 5 years service and 44.6 weeks worked with more than 5 years service. There is one training day included. Two weeks mandatory leave will be over the Christmas break and other remaining leave can be taken within certain parameters, with prior agreement of the Headteacher.

We are looking for a caring and meticulous team member who will go the extra mile for the benefit of the school community.

The successful candidate will set high standards for themselves, the school and our children. S/he will have a positive outlook and will be excited at the prospect of working as part of a small team where everyone “mucks in”.

The successful candidates will:

  • have experience of supervising and engaging children in purposeful play
  • have a passion for creating a purposeful and stimulating environment and engaging activities
  • have suitable food hygiene qualifications and experience of dealing with food allergies and intolerances
  • communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
  • work positively with parents and families and be willing to participate in all aspects of school life
  • have high expectations of children's achievements and behaviour
  • be flexible and work collaboratively and successfully as team members
  • support the vision and Christian ethos of the school
