We are excited to be able to recruit a social work qualified Practice Auditor (12 months fixed term – Secondment cover) to be part of our important quality assurance and practice development work with the children, young people, and families of the core city we are proud to work within.

As part of our commitment to improve social work practice in Newcastle, we are looking for a skilled, passionate and motivated progressed social worker to complement our established Quality Assurance team. 

Newcastle Children and Families is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Practitioner – Quality Assurance to lead and deliver our audit programme, helping to ensure that children and families receive the highest quality support and intervention. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner looking to influence practice across the whole service while supporting a culture of learning, reflection and improvement.  

About the Role 

Working alongside the Social Care Assurance and Quality of Practice Lead, you will design and deliver a robust audit programme that drives practice excellence and supports better outcomes for children and families. You will analyse practice, identify strengths and areas for development, and present learning in a way that inspires and supports improvement across Children's Social Care. 

Key responsibilities include: 
  • Leading and coordinating Children's Social Care audit activity. 
  • Analysing practice and producing high-quality audit reports. 
  • Presenting findings and learning to a range of audiences. 
  • Supporting the development of policies, procedures and quality assurance processes. 
  • Providing professional advice, challenge and guidance to practitioners and managers. 
  • Delivering training and practice development activities informed by audit outcomes. 
  • Building effective relationships with colleagues and partner agencies to drive improvement and strengthen outcomes for children and families.  
About You 

We are looking for a qualified and experienced social worker who can demonstrate: 
  • A recognised Social Work qualification and substantial post-qualifying experience within children's social care. 
  • Excellent knowledge of children's legislation, statutory guidance and inspection frameworks. 
  • Experience of quality assurance, auditing, practice review or service improvement activity. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify themes, evaluate practice and communicate findings effectively. 
  • Experience of supporting and developing colleagues through constructive challenge and professional guidance. 
  • Excellent communication, engagement and relationship-building skills. 
  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, inclusion and achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
