Newcastle City Council’s Active Inclusion Service is seeking to appoint two Housing Assistants to support the work of our Housing Advice Centre (HAC). HAC is the city’s homelessness service, working with people who are currently homeless and helping to prevent homelessness wherever possible.
Our aim is to intervene at the earliest opportunity to prevent homelessness, supporting residents to maintain the foundations for a stable life — including secure accommodation, access to income, financial inclusion, and opportunities for employment.
The role will involve supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy and high-demand service. Responsibilities will include managing and triaging telephone and email enquiries, monitoring and updating Newcastle Homes housing applications (including reviewing bandings), making enquiries, gathering and uploading documentation to our case management systems, accessing Land Registry information, and checking property ownership details. You will also undertake a range of administrative tasks to support the effective delivery of the service.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail. You will have good interpersonal and organisational skills, and be confident using Microsoft Office applications. While full training will be provided, an ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
