A fixed term position has become available for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services & Civic Management Division of the Operations and Regulatory Services Directorate as a Security Officer based at the Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne.

A 24-hour service is operated, you will work an 11-hour shift on an 8-week rota pattern, working an average of 37 hours per week.  Shifts include weekends and bank holidays. Shift and weekend enhancements and contractual overtime are paid on top of the basic salary.

The fixed term position is part funded by NE1 and the successful applicants will be working in conjunction with NE1 to support the reduction and reporting of crime in businesses.

You should be reliable, punctual and have a strong commitment to delivering high standards of customer service and able to pay particular attention to detail. You will be working in a busy environment, undertaking multiple tasks and dealing with clients, customers and members of the public.
 
Your main responsibilities will include monitoring CCTV, monitoring electronic systems, coordinating response to alarm activations including providing mobile assistance. Reporting breaches of security & preparing reports, ensuring security duties are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures.
 
It is essential that applicants hold a full UK Driving Licence, have excellent IT skills, excellent telephone manner and previous experience within the security industry.

A valid SIA CCTV and Door Supervisor licence would be advantageous, although training will be provided to the successful candidate if required.


Continued employment of successful applicants once appointed to post is subject to satisfactory clearance of a Non-Police Personal Vetting level 2 (NPPV2) check.  The criteria for this level of vetting can be found alongside the person specification document.
 
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their skills against the essential and desirable criteria within the person specification.
