At Newcastle City Council, our Property Service plays a vital role in supporting regeneration, investment, and the effective management of a diverse commercial estate that directly impacts communities, businesses, and the wider economy.
 
We are now looking to appoint motivated Assistant Surveyors to join our multi-disciplinary Property Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or APC-level candidate seeking broad, high-quality experience across the full range of commercial property disciplines within a supportive public-sector environment.
 
The Role:
Working alongside experienced Chartered Surveyors, you will support the delivery of professional property services across Newcastle City Council’s commercial portfolio. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of work, including:
  • Property management and asset management
  • Landlord and tenant matters
  • Acquisitions and disposals
  • Valuation and agency instructions
  • Commercial negotiations and stakeholder engagement
  • Projects and developments including joint ventures within the City
You will be involved in real, meaningful projects from day one, gaining hands-on experience while developing your technical, professional, and commercial skills.

About You:
This role is ideal for 
  • Graduates with a RICS-accredited qualification (Commercial Real Estate, Planning & Development, or Valuation) and a commitment to work towards achieving RICS membership
  • Final-year students approaching completion of a RICS-accredited course
  • APC candidates looking for structured support and diverse experience in a multidisciplinary environment

You will be enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn, with strong communication skills and a commitment in pursuing professional qualification while making a positive public-sector impact and in turn will be supported through your APC in a multidisciplinary environment.
