We’re looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated Housing Project Officer (Renter Rights Act) to join our Private Rented Service and Licensing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help strengthen tenant protections, challenge poor landlord practices, and support safe, secure, and sustainable homes across the city.
This new role has been created in response to the Renters Rights Act 2025 and will be vital in helping us deliver fairer outcomes for tenants. You will work closely with Housing Options, Legal Services, Private Sector Housing, Trading Standards and other partners to investigate concerns, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance.

- Developing a strong understanding of tenancy law, including the Renters Rights Act 2025, and applying it confidently.
- Designing and shaping new policies, procedures and approaches to support consistent, effective enforcement.
- Investigating complaints, carrying out property visits, and gathering evidence.
- Providing clear advice, advocacy and casework support to tenants.
- Working collaboratively with landlords, letting agents and partners to promote good practice.
- Taking proportionate enforcement action when required to uphold tenants’ rights and prevent homelessness.
