The Planning Policy Team:
It’s an exciting time to be working in the Planning Policy Team at Newcastle City Council. Our ambition is to develop places which really benefit residents, creating jobs and attractive places working with a range of services and partners to deliver the Council’s vision for Newcastle.
 
We are looking for a Planning Graduate to work on the development of a range of Planning Policy areas working with Officers and specialists from across the Council to support sustainable, inclusive development. The team plays a vital role in driving growth and regeneration whilst protecting our natural environment and there will be opportunities to work on a diverse range of exciting projects developing policies, strategies and evidence.
 
We are proud to be a proactive and dynamic team and are seeking to deliver new digital planning systems to support our work providing a customer focused service.  We have recently worked in partnership with other Local Authorities and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities (DLUHC) and part of digital projects. We are committed to providing an efficient, high quality, resilient and customer focused Planning Service to the residents of Newcastle.

About you:
We are looking for a Planning Graduate to join the team who has an interest in Planning Policy to support work on preparation of our Local Plan. You will work with Council Officers and stakeholders to build consensus on key policy issues and prepare documents for consultation. Strong communication, report writing and analytical skills are required and successful candidates will support planning policy workstreams.
 
The successful candidate will collaborate with partners, and believe in the vision of the planning service that will make a difference for the local planning authority, applicants, and stakeholders.
