We are now seeking an experienced and values-driven Service Manager – Assets & Sustainability to provide strategic leadership across our housing and property asset portfolio at a pivotal time.
This is a senior professional role with real influence — shaping how we invest, how we manage risk, and how we demonstrate strong governance and regulatory assurance, both now and for the future.
The role
As Service Manager – Assets & Sustainability, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Council’s asset management and sustainability agenda, ensuring we have a clear, evidence-led understanding of the condition, performance and long-term investment needs of our homes and property assets.
You will be accountable for driving high standards of compliance, safety and value for money, while leading the delivery of forward-looking asset and sustainability strategies that support our long-term business planning, regulatory expectations and climate commitments.
This role sits at the heart of how we demonstrate effective governance, control and assurance over our assets.

The role
As Service Manager – Assets & Sustainability, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Council’s asset management and sustainability agenda, ensuring we have a clear, evidence-led understanding of the condition, performance and long-term investment needs of our homes and property assets.
You will be accountable for driving high standards of compliance, safety and value for money, while leading the delivery of forward-looking asset and sustainability strategies that support our long-term business planning, regulatory expectations and climate commitments.

What you’ll be responsible for
You will:
- Provide strategic leadership for asset management, sustainability and decarbonisation programmes across housing and property assets
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of robust, financially sustainable investment plans aligned to the Council’s long-term business plan
- Ensure strong governance, quality and use of asset, condition and compliance data to inform prioritisation and decision-making
- Oversee building safety, health and safety and wider statutory compliance assurance across the asset portfolio
- Drive portfolio evaluation and options appraisal to maximise value, manage risk and support long-term outcomes
- Work closely with Finance, Technical Design and operational teams to ensure investment decisions are coordinated, evidence-led and deliverable
- Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team, embedding a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvementWhy this role matters

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a senior asset or property professional with:
- Significant experience leading asset management and/or sustainability functions in a complex, regulated environment
- Strong understanding of building safety, statutory compliance and risk management
- Proven ability to translate technical asset data into clear strategic and financial decisions
- Experience of working with long-term investment plans and complex budgets
- Highly developed leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- A salary of £67,372 - £71,346 per annum
