Newcastle Sensory Service is seeking to appoint Support Assistants (HI) from 01 September 2026 to join an enthusiastic team who support the achievements of deaf children and young people, their families, early years settings and schools across the city.
 
The appointment is to a city-wide Service with the role initially based in one of the Additionally Resourced Provisions, at either Benton Park Primary School, Broadwood Primary School or Jesmond Park Academy. 
 
The successful candidate will have:-
  • the higher-level teaching assistant standards or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • recent experience of working with children and young people with SEND
  • the ability to work with parents, other colleagues and relevant professionals.
  • understanding of and commitment to inclusive education and an ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team
  • willingness to achieve at least BSL Level 2
  • be an enthusiastic, well motivated and adaptable individual with good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
