Tree Technician - Fixed Term Post for up to 18 Months

Newcastle City Council

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom£29,064 - £31,022 per annum (Pay Award Pending)Closes: 17 May
In recognition of the increasingly important role trees play in the city, Newcastle City Council Strategic Tree Team is seeking to appoint a Tree Technician as part of a wider team of Arboricultural staff and services.

This is an exciting role within the organisation which brings together several aspects of arboriculture and data management and is an opportunity to be part of the growth and development of our growing Urban Forest at a time of rapidly evolving priorities, resources and demands.

The role requires an individual with arboricultural knowledge and experience as well as experience using GIS systems and maintaining data. The role will be front facing and the appointed individual should have excellent interpersonal skills and temperament as well as an ability to work to deadlines.

Answering to the Tree Team Lead, the role will include communication with the public, assisting in the updating of database records and providing arboricultural advice and site visits/inspections.

The successful candidate will also work alongside our Ecology and Landscape Design teams and the North East Community Forest Team to seek and develop opportunities to further develop the city’s tree stock.
