Are you a passionate and skilled social worker, committed to promoting independence and improving outcomes for adults?

We’re looking for a Social Worker to join our Adult Community Team (Under 65 team) in Newcastle.

About the Role

This is a frontline Social Work role within our Adult Community Team, which is a long-term social work team that works with people who have complex needs.

The position is a full time, permanent post within a supportive team.  It is the perfect time to join us as we have recently embarked on a new model of social work practice which is more relationship based and utilises traditional social work skills.  We have adopted the Newcastle 3 Conversations approach and are committed to working at a neighbourhood level to ensure services are responsive, strengths-based, and person-centred.

As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for completing proportionate and responsive assessments, that promote desired outcomes for individuals.  You can often be working with people who are experiencing difficult circumstances, so you will be required to work in a calm and sensitive way to manage complex risk situations.  You will work with a range of people, including people transitioning from Children’s Care up to the age of 65, so the role is often varied and wide ranging.  You will work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and professionals to ensure people’s needs are met in ways that promote independence, wellbeing, and choice.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Undertaking Care Act assessments using Newcastle’s 3 Conversations approach to assessment with people and their carers and completing reviews and support planning to meet people’s desired outcomes.
  • Undertaking s.42 Safeguarding enquiries and assessing risk.
  • Applying strengths-based approaches to support people to live well.
  • Ensuring timely and proportionate responses to changing needs.
  • Working closely with colleagues across health, housing, and community services.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with professional standards
About You

You’ll be a qualified social worker with experience in adult social care and a strong understanding of relevant legislation and practice frameworks. You’ll be confident in working independently, managing your caseload, and making sound professional judgments.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing.
  • Values diversity, inclusion, and community-led approaches.
  • Can work effectively as part of a supportive and dynamic team.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking service that puts people first. We offer:
  • A supportive and inclusive working culture.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Access to wellbeing support and staff benefit
You must have a relevant Social Work qualification such as a Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, or CSS, or equivalent and Social Work England registration.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.  This post is working in regulated activity.  If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s).  It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
