We’re looking to recruit the next generation of Environmental Health Officer to join our team.

As an Environmental Health Officer you would be involved in a wide range of activities and projects, all aimed at ensuring a fair, safe, and legal housing and living conditions for residents.
This might mean:Inspecting and licensing private sector houses, to check them against legal standards
Interrupting criminal landlords
Visiting different areas of the City to look at interventions to improve living conditions
Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues
Advising landlords to help them trade fairly
Working with partners to protect residents from frauds and scams
Investigating rogue landlords, preparing criminal cases, and giving evidence in court. Your role will be varied and fulfilling. We are looking for a talented and experienced officer to join our team, who cares passionately about the work they do.
As a qualified Environmental Health Officer you will be capable of working across the full spectrum of disciplines, covering housing, environmental protection, food and health and safety. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, personal attributes, skills and behaviours: A degree in Environmental Health
Completion of registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and passed the competence framework as a registered environmental health pratitioner
Communication skills - listening, spoken and written.
ICT Skills - Microsoft Office (Word,Powerpoint & Excel)
Team player who is not afraid to try something new.
Commitment to own personal and professional development.
You’ll need the ability and desire to learn, and the capacity to understand and interpret complex legislation.
You’ll also need first class communication and customer service skills, high attention to detail, and great organisational skills.
We also think you’ll have perseverance, patience, the awareness to quickly read situations, and the ability to remain calm in sometimes difficult circumstances.
