As a Homelessness Review Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring fair and lawful decision-making within the Housing Advice Centre team. You will conduct thorough investigations into S.202 homelessness review requests, applying up-to-date case law to deliver clear, evidence-based decisions. You will ensure the Council meets its legal responsibilities under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), responding to reviews within statutory timescales while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance Working closely with legal teams and senior management, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of review procedures, ensuring best practices are followed to minimise legal challenges.
The ability to solve problems within the context of the Council’s policies and legal duties, manage a caseload and meet deadlines as well as being able to work on your own initiative and as part of the team is essential. As well as this the successful candidate will need to be able to negotiate and communicate empathetically with people whilst being sensitive to different life experiences.
