The role:
Liverpool City Council Lifestyles Swim Academy are looking to recruit Part time Assistant Swimming Instructors. The successful candidate will assist a level 2 swimming instructor. Under the direction of the Swimming Co-ordinator, they will assist in the provision of progressive and structured aquatic sports instruction and activities to children and adults of all abilities.
The Swim Academy programme runs across all Lifestyles pools and staff will be expected to work at various sites as follows: Alsop, Ellergreen, Everton Park, Garston, Liverpool Aquatics Centre, Park Road and Peter Lloyd. There are Various posts available ranging between 2 to 10 hours per week which involve evening and weekend work. Contracted hours are flexible and will be agreed as part of the interview and recruitment process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of a range of instructed and proficiency based aquatics activity including; swimming, life-saving, diving, synchronised swimming, open water swimming in accordance with national guidelines (e.g. ASA Learn to Swim Pathway ASA LTSP)
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of schemes of work to ensure continual development of all children and adults through the ASA LTSP according to ability
- Assist in the Instruction of swimming lessons to children, individuals and other user groups of all ages
- Assist with record keeping on all courses, including registers, progress made by children/groups, awards attained/issued
- Assist in instructing all participating children to meet the National Curriculum key stage 2 targets
What You’ll Need:
- ASA Level 1 Swimming Teacher or relevant sports coach / instructor qualification or due to receive qualification within 3 months following application or willing to work towards the qualification
- RLSS Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers
- Instructing swimming to a range of different ages and abilities using the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway (ASA LTSP
- Working in a customer focused environment
This post is a part time role, shift allowances will be paid where appropriate. The role offers various locations across all Lifestyle centre's in Liverpool and can be further discussed at interview stage.
