Introduction

Are you an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial leadership and a track record of delivering major works and capital programmes? Can you provide robust cost forecasting and CVR reporting, lead complex tendering and procurement, and confidently manage contract risk (JCT/NEC) to help deliver safe, high-quality homes?

What’s the role?

Reporting to the Head of Stock Investment & Asset Management, you will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors to oversee the financial, commercial and contractual management of major works and construction projects across the Housing Directorate. You’ll manage tendering and procurement from issue through evaluation and award, provide monthly valuations, forecasts and cashflow reporting, and proactively manage variations, risks and opportunities to ensure projects meet cost, quality and programme expectations.

What we’re looking for

You will be a qualified Quantity Surveyor (degree or equivalent) with MRICS (or equivalent) and significant experience leading commercial teams on large-scale construction/major works programmes. You’ll bring strong knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts, construction law and cost control, with the confidence to negotiate, challenge costs and manage commercial risk. You’ll be highly organised with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to produce accurate monthly CVR/forecast reporting and support delivery of the capital programme in a social housing/public sector environment.

Location 

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Special conditions

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management (or related) and MRICS (or equivalent).
  • Ability to attend office and site locations as required across the borough.

Salary

£64,938-£69,660 per annum (SMG1)

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
