What’s the role?

As Damp, Mould and Disrepair Manager, you will lead a high‑profile service responsible for managing complex disrepair, damp and mould cases across the housing stock. You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership to multidisciplinary teams, oversee contractors and legal partners, manage significant budgets, and ensure the Council meets its statutory, regulatory and health and safety obligations. The role focuses on tackling root causes, preventing recurrence, reducing legal and reputational risk, and delivering timely, resident‑focused outcomes. Working closely with Housing, Legal Services and senior stakeholders, you will drive service improvement, assure performance and help ensure Lewisham residents live in safe, dry and well‑maintained homes.

What’s in it for you?

Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Local Government Pension scheme
  • Flexible working and family friendly policies
  • Season ticket and bicycle loans
  • A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
  • Supportive staff networks

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a confident and credible leader who can take ownership of complex damp, mould and disrepair cases in a high‑pressure environment. You’ll bring strong judgement, resilience and a clear focus on doing the right thing for residents, while managing legal risk and service performance.

You’ll be comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams, challenging poor performance and working with senior stakeholders, legal partners and contractors. You’ll understand the impact these issues have on residents’ lives and focus on tackling root causes, preventing recurrence and driving continuous improvement.
