Introduction
Are you confident in communicating persuasively, and good problem solver? Do you have experience or transferable skills in housing repairs and maintenance, housing and regulatory law, licensing and regulation/enforcement or tenancy relations? Do you have a flair for housing standards?
What’s the role? ……
To work as part of a team to improve the standard of private sector housing in the borough. This involves, but is not limited to:
• identifying licensable properties and issuing licenses for residential accommodation,
• identifying and working with landlords to improve poor conditions, and
• supporting colleagues and managers to develop and improve service delivery for the council and our residents as required.

What we’re looking for: Enthusiastic, flexible candidates willing to learn and grow in a role, ideally with previous experience in regulating and enforcing housing standards or with transferable skills. You will be required to undertake professional competence training, maintain and grow your knowledge alongside collaborating with senior officers managing your own casework and meaningfully contribute to service delivery. As a trainee licensing and enforcement officer you will have a keen eye for detail and be willing to work on your own and as part of a team, learning from your manager, mentor and other colleagues across the service/council.
Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, 1 Catford Rd, London SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary (career graded)
£37,509 - £45,852 per annum (SC6 - PO1)
N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
