As an Administration Team Leader, you will have day‑to‑day operational responsibility for administration teams within BAS. You will provide day‑to‑day leadership ensuring workloads are effectively planned, resources are managed efficiently and service deadlines are consistently met. Working closely with senior managers and operational colleagues, you will help shape and improve systems, processes and ways of working, using data and insight to drive continuous improvement and modernise service delivery.

About the role
The Business Administration Service (BAS) provides administrative support across Leeds City Council and all its services. The aim of BAS is to develop a professional service which meets service needs and supports the delivery of the Best Council Plan, ensuring the efficient use of resources, capacity, and technology.
We currently have a Team Leader role working in BAS supporting Adults & Health Social Work, Mental Health and Learning Disability teams. You would be expected to manage several teams and their supervisors, being able to effectively lead and motivate your teams in order to deliver excellent results.
You would be expected to support the service to bring about positive change, looking to deliver efficiencies whilst at the same time maintaining excellent working relationships.
The role involves hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office, but flexibility is essential dependent on service need. During your training period, you will be required to do more days in the office.

Job Description
The Business Administration Service provides administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council. We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.
Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles. The role involves hybrid working (home/office dependant on service need), potentially working face-to-face with customers and working within the council boundaries as required.
This role is working in the Business Administration Service supporting Social Work (Adults) which is responsible for the delivery of effective administration processes to support social work practice. You will manage an effective administration team to meet statutory deadlines throughout the social work processes, working in partnership with the social work teams. You will work closely with management to ensure deadlines are met whilst looking at improving the way in which we work, to deliver a high-quality service to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with Senior Managers to develop new policies and methods of working in response to changes in legislation and best practice. Comply with Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Quality Assurance procedures.
- Day to day responsibility for ensuring timely delivery of the service and relevant budgets.
- Analyse and collate data for the provision of accurate management information and production of reports.
- Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions.
- A commitment to personal development and to keep informed of legislative policy changes.
- Work flexibly and move within service areas – working at different locations depending on service
- Maintain effective relationships with other Leeds City Council staff, Elected Members, members of the public and other partnership organisations as appropriate.

- Participate in appraisal, training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills
