Business Administration Service (BAS) is responsible for administrative staff providing professional administrative services to a wide range of teams and service areas across the whole of the Council. The BAS aims to deliver efficient and modern administrative services to support the delivery of Council services to the Citizens of Leeds and to help achieve the Best City Ambition.

As an Administration Assistant, you will bring to the role:

About the role
This role is working in the Business Administration Service delivering administrative support to the Youth Justice service, an organisation of professionals from health, probation, youth justice, social work, education, housing, and police backgrounds. Working as a team you will help to prevent offending and re-offending and support young people to make positive changes in their lives. You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of partners including the police and the courts and will be responsible for corresponding to queries through our inbox and phone line and providing some reception cover.
A key focus of your role will be to provide admin support for weekly multi-agency Strengthening Youth Futures panels. This is part of the government’s Safer Streets Mission which is being delivered as a Home Office pilot as part of their stated mission to improve outcomes for teenagers and help them thrive. The mission takes a whole-systems approach to achieving specific goals including halving knife crime and violence against women and girls within a decade and restoring public confidence in the police and justice system. The panel identifies and supports children who could be vulnerable to being drawn into crime.
The role is primarily based at the Youth Justice Centre in Hunslet but with some working at other bases, including Technorth. A minimum of one day a week in the office is essential, with the option to work from home for the remaining days. During your training period, you will be required to do more days in the office. The role involves some contact with young people accessing the service.

Job Purpose:
The Business Administration Service provides administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council.
We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.
Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles. The role involves hybrid working (home/office dependant on service need), potentially working face-to-face with customers and working within the council boundaries as required. Responsibilities for Grade:
- Working with high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents, recording numerical and alphabetical information.
- Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions.
- Work unsupervised, using your initiative to adhere to time scales and deadlines and manage your own workload.
- Carry out administrative duties.
- Ability to collate data and use it to produce reports.
- Knowledge and experience of adhering to procedures and legislation relating to confidential information.
- Work flexibly and move within service areas – working at different locations depending on service demand.

- Willing to actively participate in training and development activities to ensure up to date knowledge, skills and continuous professional development.
