The Job:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two full-time Social Workers in the Fostering and Permanence Service, Connected Carer and Post Order Support Team.

Social Workers are responsible for supporting temporarily approved and fully approved connected carers in accordance with care planning regulations and the relevant National Minimum Standards (NMS 30). Special Guardians are also supported with a model that ensures that there is stability, minimal interference, complaints, and breakdown. Special Guardians are also supported through a post-order support model which promotes stability and family resilience, while providing timely and proportionate support where difficulties arise to help prevent placement breakdown.

The Candidate:

The successful candidates will report to the Team Manager and be part of a creative fostering and permanence service that works with the theories of trauma, attachment and loss, social pedagogy and restorative practice to ensure the best outcomes for our children and their family networks. Self-motivated and accustomed to working to deadlines, you will have good IT and communication skills, with experience of promoting and embedding good practice in relation to permanency planning, quality assurance, establishing and nurturing multi-agency relationships and providing training and support to carers and professional colleagues.

You will have a good working Knowledge & understanding of the Children Act 1989 and associated guidance and regulations, Adoption and Children Act 2002, the Fostering Services Regulations 2011 and Special Guardianship Regulations 2005 (as amended by the Special Guardianship (Amendment) Regulations 2016).

The Support:

Social workers in Lambeth can look forward to accessing training opportunities which include:
• A 5 day introduction to Signs of Safety Approach
• Funded training to Practice Educator status

In addition to our training offer, our Social Workers:
• Are part of a small team of six Social workers
• Take part in regular group supervision with their team
• Receive support from their team-based Advanced Practitioner
