About the Team:

We are seeking a curious, passionate and highly motivated Strategic Partnerships Manager to be part of the Strategy and Impact team at Lambeth Council. This is a great opportunity for someone to play a central role in developing and implementing an effective external affairs and partnerships approach across the council, specifically through the management of the Lambeth 2030 Strategic Partnership.

Lambeth is a central London borough with an exceptional history. A borough of diversity, connectivity and opportunity, Lambeth has long been home to radicals and reformers, entrepreneurs, and innovators, working together to change the lives of others. Lambeth is a global destination, with strong institutions shaping a unique cultural and civic offer. Lambeth has also become a Borough of Sanctuary, recognising its historic and current welcoming of new families and communities who want to make Lambeth ‘home’.

We know that to be the best borough we can possibly be, we need to harness and nourish our assets, resources, and community energy, so that everyone in Lambeth can belong, can thrive, and so that nobody is left behind.

Following extensive work with our communities, residents, partners and workforce to set our strategic priorities and vision for Lambeth, we published our new borough plan Lambeth 2030: Our Future, Our Lambeth, setting out our bold, long-term vision reflecting our ambitions for our residents and communities.

It sets out ambitions to make Lambeth a place we can all call home, to ensure our neighbourhoods are fit for the future and to make the borough one of the safest in London. Running across each of these is an explicit commitment to making Lambeth a borough of equity and justice for all.

If this sounds like the place and people who match your values and ambitions, join us as we embark on our most exciting chapter yet and help us write history for the next generation.

About the role

You will play a lead role in managing, developing, and delivering our newly established Lambeth Strategic Partnership programme to stimulate increased engagement and collaboration opportunities that will amplify the delivery of Lambeth 2030: Our Future, Our Lambeth - which sets out our bold ambitions for the future.

Working with senior officers and cabinet members, you will lead the development of relationships and partner networks that will accelerate the reach and impact of key strategic programmes. And you will develop and facilitate the voice of the partnership on a local, regional and national level, understanding where the partnership can align key priorities, messaging and activities, in support of the council’s key public and external affairs activity.

We are looking for a capable all-rounder, an individual comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels – both internal and external. Experience in leading partnership delivery through a place-based approach, and knowledge of the governance structure, behaviours and values that are required for effective cross-sector partnerships is essential. A background in external/public affairs and knowledge of government landscape, processes and opportunities for lobbying and influencing are desirable. An ability to pick up varied, complex and big profile policy topics is a must, as well as a capacity to produce briefings, guidance and other materials on a short turnaround. You will need to have a good understanding of local government and the challenges it faces and an interest in policy development. Experience of successful project management and partnership working is essential, as are great organisational and written skills.

Lambeth is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from individuals from a range of backgrounds, particularly those traditionally underrepresented in policy leadership – including Black, Asian and Multi-ethnic, LGBTQ+ and gender diverse applicants.
