About Us:

Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.

It is an exciting time to join Lambeth Council, we have bold ambitions for the future of Lambeth’s communities and residents through our Lambeth 2030 Plan ‘Our Future, Our Lambeth.

With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.

Public health hosts specialist commissioning teams, including sexual and reproductive health (SRH), HIV and substance misuse. The SRH team supports the provision of services across five local authorities and the southeast London (SEL) integrated care board (ICB). The sexual health team also hosts and manages the London HIV Prevention Programme (LHPP) on behalf of all London local authorities. Substance misuse commissioners also work strategically across southeast London and hold some joint contracts across this footprint. This role will support commissioners and public health specialists in discharging their role.

About the Team

Public Health sits at the heart of Lambeth Council’s ambition to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for residents. The team works across a broad portfolio including health improvement, system leadership, intelligence, commissioning and partnership working, collaborating closely with NHS partners, internal council services, elected members and external stakeholders.

The Public Health senior leadership team operates within a complex and fastpaced environment, balancing statutory responsibilities, system pressures and finite resources. Effective coordination, communication and organisation are essential to ensuring that priorities are progressed and governance arrangements function smoothly. The team values professionalism, discretion, collaboration and adaptability, and is committed to working efficiently and inclusively to support the delivery of highquality public health outcomes for Lambeth’s communities.

About the Role:

This role provides professional executive support to the Director of Public Health and the Director of Integrated Commissioning (Adults). It is a shared role supporting two Directors and plays an important part in enabling the effective daytoday functioning of senior leadership activity.

The Executive Support Officer will provide highquality executive support including diary and correspondence management, coordination of meetings, preparation of briefings, reports and presentations, and accurate minutetaking. Acting as a key point of contact, the postholder will liaise confidently with senior officers, councillors, partners and stakeholders, exercising discretion and sound judgement when handling sensitive information.

Working as part of Lambeth’s wider executive support function, the role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a proactive, flexible approach to work. While knowledge of Public Health is helpful, it is not essential; the role is well suited to someone with transferable executive or senior administrative skills who is comfortable working in a complex organisational environment and supporting senior leaders to work effectively.
