About the Role:

Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Response Team Leader to play a pivotal role in keeping our borough safe, clean , and welcoming.

This is a frontline leadership position responsible for the operational delivery of environmental enforcement, public protection, and community safety functions across Lambeth’s public spaces. You will lead a highperforming response team, balancing reactive demand with intelligenceled, proactive enforcement to tackle antisocial behaviour, environmental crime, and public nuisance.

You will also manage Lambeth’s reactive outofhours noise service, work closely with internal and external partners, and contribute to boroughwide operations focused on making Lambeth a safer place to live, work, and visit.

As Response Team Leader, you will:

Lead, manage, and motivate the Response Team to deliver effective, lawful, and proportionate enforcement activity

Oversee enforcement relating to: 

  • Anti‑Social Behaviour
    • Fly‑tipping, littering, graffiti, fly‑posting
    • Unlicensed Street Trading
    • Public nuisance and reactive noise complaints
    • Waste Duty of Care and highways enforcement
    • ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014
    • Highways Act 1980
    • Environmental Protection Act 1990
    • London Local Authorities Act 1990 (as amended)

       

Coordinate intelligence-led, data-driven operations targeting hotspot locations and priority issues

Manage out‑of‑hours response activity, including triaging calls and directing officers

Ensure compliance with key legislation including: 

Produce and oversee high‑quality prosecution case files and act as a professional witness when required

Work closely with Police, internal services, councillors, residents, and partner agencies

Monitor performance, improve systems, and drive continuous service improvement

Support service‑wide resilience by providing cover for other Team Leaders

Manage staff performance, wellbeing, development, and recruitment

Contribute to service planning, partnership meetings, and community forums

This role involves evening, weekend, and out‑of‑hours working, including up to 21 hours of paid overtime per month, in line with service requirements.

No two days are the same you’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
