Exams and Learner Services Officer - West Kent
Kent County Council
Role Responsibility
At Kent Adult Education, our learning centres are vibrant, welcoming spaces where adults come to build skills, confidence, and new opportunities. Supporting learners across West Kent, we deliver courses that make a real difference to people’s lives.
We’re now looking for a motivated and proactive Exams and Learner Services Officer to join our friendly West Kent team.
Covering Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, and Maidstone (Oakwood House), this role offers variety and the chance to make a genuine impact. While you will work across the district, you’ll likely spend much of your time in either Maidstone or Tonbridge.
As a key front-facing member of the team, you’ll be the first point of contact for our learners—playing a vital role in shaping their experience from enquiry through to achievement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Welcoming and supporting learners in person, by phone, and via email
Providing clear information and guidance on courses and services
Enrolling learners and managing student data accurately
Supporting exam processes, including entries, and organising / running local examinations
Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. It can be busy and requires strong attention to detail, but it also offers the opportunity to work independently and make a real difference.
Working Pattern
We understand the importance of balance and aim to offer flexibility wherever possible.
37 hours per week
A flexible working pattern, including some variable hours
There may be one evening per week (until 9.30pm) during term time to support evening classes
There may be a need for an occasional Saturday attendance
Rotas are planned in advance to help you organise your time
About You
We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised, and committed to excellent service. You’ll need:
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
