About Us
Family Hubs are part of Kent County Council's commitment to helping children, young people (aged 0-19, or up to 25 for those with SEND) and their families access the right support, at the right time, in the right place.
Our Family Hubs bring together services and professionals who work alongside local communities to provide information, advice, guidance and support for families. We work closely with health, education and community partners to ensure families can access a wide range of services under one roof.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Business Support Officer to join our Family Hubs team based in Swanley.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of services to children, young people and families across the Sevenoaks District. As the first point of contact for many families, partners and visitors, you will help ensure our Family Hubs provide a welcoming, professional and supportive environment.
No two days are the same. One day you may be greeting visitors and supporting a busy community event, whilst the next you could be coordinating meetings, processing financial transactions, updating systems, producing reports or supporting managers with administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will be based primarily in Swanley; however, there is an expectation that you will travel to Edenbridge Family Hub at least once each week, with additional travel required at times to provide cover during periods of annual leave, sickness absence or service demand.
Working closely with managers, practitioners and partners, you will provide comprehensive administrative and business support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of Family Hub services.
Responsibilities will include:
Acting as a welcoming first point of contact for families, professionals and visitors.
Supporting the day-to-day operation of Family Hubs.
Coordinating meetings, preparing paperwork and taking accurate notes where required.
Monitoring shared mailboxes and responding to enquiries.
Maintaining accurate records and electronic systems.
Supporting financial and procurement processes.
Producing professional correspondence, reports and documents.
Monitoring health and safety information and supporting local compliance processes.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders across the district.
Providing flexible support across Family Hub locations when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
You will be:
Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with members of the public.
Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
Confident using Microsoft Office and a range of IT systems.
Able to maintain accurate records and work to deadlines.
Flexible and willing to travel between Family Hub locations when required.
Committed to supporting children, young people and families within your local community.
Previous administrative experience is essential.
What We Offer
In return we can offer you:
29 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service
Generous contributory pension scheme
Training and an ongoing plan for development
Employee-focused support networks and staff groups
A rewarding and meaningful career making a difference to local families
Access to Kent Rewards, providing discounts on many local and national brands and services
