Are you passionate about road safety, working with children and helping people develop skills for life?
Kent County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Pedestrian Trainer to join our Safer Active Journeys Team. This rewarding role helps primary school children develop the confidence, awareness and practical skills they need to walk safely and independently. Pedestrian training is a core element of KCC's wider road safety and active travel programme, supporting healthier, safer and more sustainable journeys across Kent.
Working alongside schools, teachers and fellow trainers, you will deliver practical roadside and school-based pedestrian training sessions, helping young people learn essential road safety skills that can benefit them throughout their lives. KCC currently delivers a range of pedestrian training programmes for primary-aged children, including practical roadside and playground-based sessions.
What You'll Be Doing
Delivering pedestrian training sessions to primary school children.
Teaching children how to recognise hazards and cross roads safely.
Supporting the delivery of road safety and active travel initiatives.
Working closely with schools and education staff.
Promoting safe, active and independent travel choices.
Maintaining accurate training records and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
Acting as a positive ambassador for Kent County Council and the Safer Active Journeys Team.
What We're Looking For
You do not need previous teaching experience, as full training will be provided. We are looking for people who:
Enjoy working with children and young people.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Are confident delivering information to groups.
Are organised and dependable.
Can work independently and as part of a wider team.
Have an interest in road safety, public health, active travel or community engagement.
Are committed to safeguarding and supporting children's wellbeing.
