We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Support Assistant to join the People Operations Support Team within Kent County Council's Deputy Chief Executive Department.
This is a rewarding role that offers the opportunity to support a wide range of business activities across the department. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will help ensure services run smoothly and efficiently, supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality services for Kent Residents.
About the Team
The People Operations Support Team plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of Kent County Council’s People Strategy. As part of the Human Resources & Organisational Development function, the team provides a wide range of critical business support activities that enable services to operate efficiently and effectively.
The team are responsible for coordinating and administering a variety of corporate processes, including KCC’s employment benefits offer, Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access Requests, governance and finance activity. Working closely with teams across HR and Organisational Development, the team ensures that key services are delivered accurately and professionally.
A key focus of the team is continuous improvement. By embracing automation, innovation and digital solutions, the team seeks to streamline processes, improve customer experience and deliver greater efficiency across People Operations.
About the Role
As a Business Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide high-quality administrative and business support across a range of services.
- Coordinate meetings, events and workshops.
- Prepare agendas, presentations and minutes.
- Support financial, employee benefits and information governance processes.
- Manage shared mailboxes and respond to customer enquiries.
- Assist with recruitment and workforce-related activity.
- Support communications, document management and digital systems.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives that improve the way we work.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and enjoys working in a busy environment.
You will:
- Have strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Be able to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have good practical experience of using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook, and be able to use these confidently in a workplace environment.
- Be confident working with spreadsheets, databases and data records, maintaining accurate information and producing professional documentation.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Enjoy working collaboratively whilst also using your own initiative.
- Be keen to learn, develop and contribute ideas.
