About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Hounslow Youth Justice Service. We are looking to recruit to an experienced Senior Practitioner.
We are committed to improving outcomes for children, supporting victims and building safer communities within Hounslow.
• We work collaboratively with key partners within our multi-disciplinary team to address the complex needs and risks faced by children and young people. We are committed to working with children using the Child First and Trauma informed practice.
• You will be committed to reduce the rate of proven re-offending by young people receiving Out of Court disposals or court-ordered interventions
• Be responsible for the line management of up to 4 members of the Youth Justice Service, including YJS Officers, Specialist Staff, Students and Community volunteers
• Ensure the effective management of children and young people subject to Out of Court disposals and court Interventions; this includes undertaking quality assurance of cases, assessments and plans. Undertake monthly audits of cases held with the Youth Justice Service
• In addition, you will have an excellent understanding within the criminal Justice setting and be able to demonstrate the needs of the child, victim work and the needs of the public within our work.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Hounslow Youth Justice Service (YJS) has a duty to protect the public and to safeguard children from harm, and this role forms an integral part of meeting this duty.
The Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary Team, which includes Social Workers, Probation Officers, Police Officers, Substance Mis-Use Workers, and Health professionals and works closely with a wide range of other professionals, including the Courts.  The Service sits within the wider Children’s Specialist and Safeguarding Department.
The Team is based at Hounslow House, a modern office building in central Hounslow which is busy multi-cultural community with good transport connections.  There is an opportunity for office based and home working, dependent on the needs of the service.  The Team is committed to hearing the voices of the children we work with and their families to develop and improve the service we offer.
 About You
Provide effective, timely management oversight of casework undertaken with children, young people and their families to ensure compliance with National Standards for children in the Youth Justice System.
• Undertake effective management of staff within the Youth Justice Service, providing personal and reflective supervision to enable staff to provide good quality interventions for children, young people and families.
• Quality assure assessments and plans for children and young people known to the Youth Justice Service; ensure that they are of a good standard i.e timely, take account of children and young people’s diversity and its impact on their lives, in line with inspection standards and the likelihood of reoffending, safety for victims & the community and safety for the child.
• Ensure children and young people’s plans are co-produced, and encourage a strength-based approach, take account of children and young people’s diversity and its impact on their lives, with plans of sufficient quality to enable positive outcomes in relation to desistance from offending, safety for victims and community and the safety of children and young people. Ensuring plans and assessments are reviewed as required taking account of any significant changes.
• Ensure that case records are maintained in line with National Standards and Inspection standards, with record management oversight that is effective in guiding work with children and families.
• Be accountable for designated areas of the Youth Justice Service including, holding a caseload, chairing case meetings, professionals’ meetings and Out of Court or Referral Order Panels and/or work with other services.
